Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.
Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

“This is not a cancer book ‘cause cancer
books suck,” as Hazel Grace would say.
The fault in our stars is just awesome and great. It
made me teary eyed most of the time and some tears fell as well. (At one point,
I had to stop and collect myself before continuing reading.) It made me laugh and smile. It made my heart ache. It made me giddy. (Oh, those Hazel-Augustus scenes!)
Hazel and Augustus are just perfect
characters. They are truly captivating to read. Hazel Grace, as what Augustus calls her, is one strong person despite her condition. And Gus, he's bringing positivity to Hazel's life. He's smart, he's funny and he's sweet.
This is a witty, funny, hopeful, sad, compelling and highly emotional book. Although you can already see
it coming, you will not be prepared for the inevitable conclusion. Go read it,
now! Seriously! …and prepare for your heart to be broken.
TFIOS is just heartbreakingly beautiful.
